Fastgen Hackathon Winner Announcement

That's a Wrap! We hosted our first-ever Fastgen Hackathon from September 11th to September 20th, and it was a blast! We were surprised by the quality and depth of the submissions. Many cool projects were built, and we can't wait to share the winners with you today!

🥇First Place: DatGen by Lil Big Things

Prize: $1,000 Cash, a Trophy, and a Feature in Times Square!!!

DatGen is an AI-assisted Meta Data and Schema generator based on the content of your webpage to help you optimize your website's SEO. The complexity of the project built in such a short time combined with the real-world usefulness makes it the winner. It integrates Fastgen for secure, user-friendly experiences and leverages OpenAI API and ChatGPT for intelligent, user-specific schema and meta tag generation. DatGen is a straightforward, transformative solution for enhancing website visibility.

🥈Second Place: SeedSwipe by Jeevan Jutla and Artemiy Malyshau

Prize: $500 and a FastGen swag package

You've heard about Tinder, but what about SeedSwipe? SeedSwipe's iOS App seamlessly connects investors to startups. It uses a Machine Learning model inspired by Netflix's content-based filtering that pairs the most compatible startups with investors. The App is integrated with the Crunchbase database for startup and investor data and facilitates instant investment transactions via Stripe's trusted payment processing. To ensure the utmost security, SeedSwipe incorporates Twillo and Fastgen's authentication. Additionally, with Fastgen at its core, the app provides email confirmations for every investment and match.

🥉Third Place: Anntho by Pramod George

Prize: $250 and a FastGen swag package

Anntho is a short form email newsletter platform. It allows only 1000 characters/ email and forces writers to communicate a single idea better in each email. It automates the daily queuing, scheduling and sending of emails - enabling writers to write daily, focus on sharing valuable information (not lengthy emails), transforming their reader's lives and grow their business by building trust and familiarity.

Fourth Place: Unloq by Philipp John and Johannes Pittgens

Prize: $250 and a FastGen swag package

Unloq helps B2B SaaS and PaaS companies integrate online communities into their marketing, sales and customer success activities. Unloq helps their partners 1) identify relevant messages on Slack through triggers (e.g. someone mentions a specific keyword) and 2) interact with the right users at the right time, in the right place.

Best Use of Fastgen: SiteSyncer by NoCode Nomads

Prize: $250

SiteSyncer is a project management application tailored for construction companies. This intuitive tool not only facilitates project planning based on external factors such as weather but also integrates with ChatGPT. Fastgen was impressively used to convert addresses into latitude-longitude-coordinates, using two custom code blocks and an HTTP Request to the Mapbox API. As a result, it can automatically prepare mitigation strategies, empowering companies with enhanced foresight and time-saving benefits.

Best Use of AI: Wallpaper AI by Tonikpany

Prize: $250

WallpaperAI is your new wallpaper pack generator. Pick a theme and get a fresh set of custom-made wallpapers. You can choose your wanted scene, colors and complexity to have a unique wallpaper generated for you.

Funniest Project: EPL-analytics by The Strawhat Pirates

Prize: $250

EPL-analytics is an end-to-end data pipeline that uses Fastgen as the connection between the data warehouse and end users for business intelligence purposes by converting Natural language to Standard SQL. It’s not just efficient; it’s also entertaining, allowing users to ask quirky questions like, "How many left-footed players scored goals after a free kick last season?" This mix of precision and fun makes exploring data a delightful experience.

Mike Mahlkow is the co-founder and CEO of Fastgen, a low-code backend builder. He is a serial tech entrepreneur who has taken two of his companies through Y Combinator and raised money from some of the best investors in the world. Before starting his founder journey, he learned how successful tech companies are run in his roles at Stripe and Uber. His areas of expertise are startups, shipping product fast, and the low-code industry. In addition to his role at Fastgen, he is an angel investor and podcast host. He has been quoted in publications including TechCrunch, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Forbes, and Quartz.
